Hi everyone, apologies for the hijack... but just a note to let you know that the new issue of the DOOMWATCH FANZINE is out now!

After many months of hard work I am proud to present to you the BIGGEST EVER issue of the Fanzine. It features a complete 12 page analysis of the first ever episode "The Plastic Eaters" written by Michael Seely.

There are also classic Newspaper headlines and reviews, as well as the original story outline, Doomwatch HQ location and character backgrounds that Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis formulated for the classic BBC series whilst at lunch in a Victorian fish and chip shop in Kensington!

You may be surprised to learn that it might not have been Plastic that was being eaten in the first episode...

Michael also takes a look at DOOMWATCH investigations in the Daily Mirror from the 1970s and a look at environmentalism in "Real-life DOOMWATCH". All this, plus an analysis of "Mutant 59: The Plastic Eater" book that was re-written without any of the TV series characters by Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis. Oh, and is that Disney I hear knocking at the door?...

P.S. Issue 1 and Issue 2 are now available to view online for FREE too...

Great website and a devotion to detail that I find admirable to observe, if not delve into too much.... but maybe one day.....

Was the eating-plastic-bug the *first* episode? Good Lord! I wouldn't have thought that. That show certainly hit the ground running. Nowadays a plastic-eating bug might seem almost worth having......

Be careful what you wish for. Or don't you like cars, or aeroplanes, or computers, or surgical implants or the millions of other things where plastics are used to the benefit of mankind?

And if you think that it can be contained to rubbish disposal sites, what other bug has ever been contained?

    Steve
