Wot no feedback ?

It is absolutely fascinating James. If I am enjoying a book I try to take it slowly, a chapter at a time and then a break. I had to keep coming back to it quickly - so many facets to the man. It must have been amazing to be in his circle of friends.

You can be justifiably proud of the book, mate !

Cheers old chap!

I promise I'm not just hunting for compliments.
It's genuinely quite terrifying waiting for feedback!

All the best,

Amazon.CA and Amazon.com
A note to anyone in Europe (or the UK) buying from anywhere in North America.
If you get the choice, always buy from Canada.
I don't know why but the postage charges to have a parcel sent from Canada to the UK are always significantly less than the charges to have the same parcel sent from America to the UK

Just got a couple of chapters to go and have thoroughly enjoyed it. The passage about Molly Parkin was an eye opener. Well done James, a smashing piece of work. It must have been difficult sorting fact from JRJ's tall tales. What's next!

Cheers Sonny. I must admit it was quite difficult sorting out JRJ's 'stories'. Fortunately I managed to track down some old friends of his who helped me separate the wheat from the chaff, so to speak. My next effort will probably be a celebration of the films of Betty Box and Ralph Thomas. The idea is to have a few chapters on the partnership itself, along with a chapter on each film. Think the research should be a bit easier this time around! If anyone has any suggestions format-wise I'd really appreciate it.

Cheers,

Hoggers

Hoggers,

Looking forward to the Betty Box/Gerald Thomas book - great idea. I always thought that Betty Box's autobiography ran out of steam before the end, no doubt because she was ill. A great shame. This pair provided a great deal of entertainment over the years and I'm sure it'll be an excellent tribute.

Absolute complete and utter s***e. To say I'm furious would be a gargantuan understatement.

The Mail approached us a while ago about running a serialization or précis from the book and we eventually got round to signing a contract. The literary editor there said that they would email the piece over prior to publication for me to check for inaccuracies etc. This obviously wasn't done and they've decided to publish.

Tomahawk will be checking the contract over the weekend but we'll certainly be taking legal advice. I've also called as many of James friends as possible to apologise.

The leading comments are absolutely disgraceful. Gutter journalism is too kinder description for this kind of muck.

Anyone who has read the book will hopefully realise that I have tried to put down nothing more than a celebratory account of an extraordinary life. NOT some kind of tabloid "expose" about someone who isn't around the defend themselves.

If you haven't bought a copy of todays Daily Mail then PLEASE don't on account of reading this. It honestly isn't worth it.

When you read the article the headline isn't substantiated anyhow. It seemed a bizarrely *overthetop* header. Given that it was right in the middle of the 'paper and only readers who read would have got that far into the innards of the rag, I should think it is self-evident to all that see it, that the sub-editor was on crack cocaine when he wrote it. I can only imagine that the hacks who do the innards of these publications live in some fantasy world where they convince themselves they are writing for the front-page *scoop*!

I was left thinking, why on earth haven't they told me more than the bare bones about this remarkable guy's early life............ I must get the book!

If that's any comfort...............
