Have you tried your local public library?

They should be able to obtain it for you....

I just checked the Leeds Library Catalogue (I'm hard at work at one of their branches now, as you can tell by the number of messages I've added to Britmovies today) and we have a couple of copies.

This means that even if there are no copies in the London Lbrary systems, they will be able to get hold of one via the Inter Library Loan system, which here at Leeds costs £3.75.

Both are good value considering the British Library, who administer the sceme, charges library authorities about £15 per book for the service.

No argument there. I have been told that for every interlibrary loan the actual full cost in adminstrative terms per loan is £40.

It's worth it as it's a very good read. It's ironic - I picked up my copy as a remainder. Some of these biogs become extremely difficult to get hold off - Steve King's book on Old Mother Riley is an example.

Last week I tried David Drummond of Pleasures of Times Past in Newport Court for a copy. He didn't have it but showed me a pair of George's stage shoes!

Well i am already on Page 40 and when i have finished it i will put it back up for sale again if you are interested. The problem with the book is that it is so engrossing that i fear that i will just not put it done and reach the end too quicly. After this i will go on to his biog of Gracie.

I've already got a copy - and a copy of the book on Gracie. I thought David D might have a copy for you. If he didn't have it then it really would be difficult to track down. But you're now sorted.

Also recommended (but not film related) is Patrick Newley's book on Mrs Shufflewick.
