Hi,
have you read Powell's book Last Voyage of the Graf Spee ?
I'd like to know whether it's wholly factual or novelized.
Cheers

Yes, I've read it (gosh, there's a surprise).
It's as factual as can be.
It was written using all the research material they collected (and P&P were
very good at their research) that they couldn't fit into the film. It has a lot more personal stories. I think you'll find it's usually catalogued under factual rather than fiction.
Of course he puts all the facts together into a well told story, but I wouldn't call it a novelization.
There is a lot of detail about things like how the good radio communications between the 3 cruisers allowed then to act as one large gun platform and the complexities of naval gunnery where everything from the wind speed to the rotation of the earth is taken into account by an analogue computer.
