Anybody here know where I would have to get permission to reproduce an article from an old issue of Films and Filming? I stopped collecting them in the late seventies and have lost touch since I moved to the US and I don't know if it is still being published and who to contact.

I don't think it was published much beyond the 1970s. Looking at a few old issues I have, it was published by Hansom Books. There are no publishers in the UK of that name any more (or none in the phone book anyway).

Where do you want to reproduce the article? Is it in a book or magazine or just on the web? A Google for Films and Filming shows that there are a lot on the web, I doubt if they all sought permission.

Who was the author of the article? Maybe they could give permission if they're still around.

Films and Filming magazine in its original form ceased publication with the June 1980 issue when Hansom Books went bust.
It was revived over a year later, in October 1981, by Brevet Publishing Ltd who presumably took over the copyright.
Some time later it transferred to Orpheus Publications and finally expired around 1990.
Orpheus Publications is still in existence but seems to now specialise in music magazines. Who hold the copyright now of F&F material is unclear.

If credited and for non-profit use you should be ok publishing online as you're not depriving the author of monies and the majority are sympathetic towards fellow film fans. Think it comes under the vague 'fair use' law.

Republishing it in any other form is probably another matter.

Thanks to all for your helpful replies. It would be for the contents of a dvd either on the disc or jacket.
Once I can disclose the title I'll give you more information.
Thanks again.
