Buster Crabbe fights one in Flash Gordon. Bela Lugosi struggles with one in Bride of the Monster.

There are a few man vs squid encounters (20000 Leagues Under the Sea, Beast, Tentacles) but I can't think of any more octopus ones in a film ..... however Max catches a big one in an episode of Captain David Grief.

Edit - there are a couple of dodgy low budget US films called Octopus and Octopus 2 which have appeared on C5, but I don't expect you mean them.

Very good Bats! The two I was thinking of were 'Reap the wild wind' (1942) with John Wayne fighting the octopus, and 'Isle of Fury' (1936) with Humphrey Bogart doing the same thing!

I have not seen either of those, but anything with a giant octopus in it has to be worth a look!

Could be an option to try your local branch and order it if they don't have it?

Booked my copy from inter-library loan though the earliest date I can have it is August!

There are still 4 or 5 copies in "Forbidden Planet" in London and that was last week, I would be happy to pick a copy up for anyone outside London who wants one and send it on at same price as book shop (£17.99), PM me if interseted.
