Just finished Entirely Up To You Darling and liked it more than I thought I would. There are two authors - RA and his working partner Diana Hawkins and they write in alternate passages. While not quite a dialogue between the them the two vioces do complement each other. Due to the length and breadth of DA's career it is quite a substantial read and there are some excellent stories including some I have read elsewhere but here are presented in greater detail and I suspect greater accuracy. I didn't know that he nearly played the Guinness part in The Card and that he had quite substantial periods of unemployment during the 50s.

I heard him discussing the book on the radio the other week. I thought he was very restrained and moving about the death of his daughter and grandchild. Not a trace of self pity. He came across as a thoroughly lovely person and I know his stories are legendary. He just needs to brush up the Scots accent..

I am almost finished this book.It is quite a good read but it just doesnt work having 2 authors.For one thing it has to be said that i am not that interested in Hawkins career.Secondly as someone wrote on Amazon it is if someone threw the pages up in the air and then published them in the order they came down.So that on one page Attenborough is talking about The Angry Silence and Hawkins about Cry Freedom.
