My one achievement in life is that it was me who first suggested to BBC7 that they dig this out of the archive. And jolly good it is too.

Quite lively and a rare non-series performance from Kenneth Horne

    Does that make you famous?

Well done , for getting it on air.

The book is one of the few that has made me laugh out loud.

Obviously it's only a poor substitute for this version from 1944 though (which Aunty seemed to think nobody would ever want to hear again )

Well done, sir; I listened to it on both occasions.

Of course the mentions of Scouts are anachronistic; the book was written in 1889 and the Scouts didn't come into being until 1907. But apart from that it is great fun; and good, four-part singing too.
