Someone kindly posted the Guardian's article on Charlotte leaving the airwaves of BBC Radio 4 in the new year.

How sad-I could listen to her for hours-that chocolate voiced perfect diction reminds me of a bygone era-the era of walnut veneered large 50's radio sets, which had illuminated tuning panels with miniature green ink stating the locations. Hilversum Luxembourg- where were these places? I wondered as a child. "Are you sitting comfortably?" known to millions-while over on the Tv would be the unmistakable voice of Maria Bird: "..but the man who worked down at the bottom of the garden didn't know that anything had happened at all!-only you saw them playing-and the little weed-although I think the little house knew something about it-don't you?" (Bill and Ben 1953).

I digress-who are we left with John Humphries! who does indeed infuriatingly frequently interupt as does James Naughtie ("Naughty") re: his Jeremy Hunt gaffe...

    Best to all.

A number of BBC programmes have already reported the forthcoming expiry of Mesdames Harriet Kass and Charlotte Green, including interviews as far as Ms.Green is concerned regarding the final curtain. The programme to watch -or rather hear- is the Radio 4 grumble programme about radio shortcomings, "Feedback" , broadcast normally on a Friday late afternoon and then on a Sunday evening, hosted by Roger Bolton.

Here's a link to the most recent broadcast with references to the Charlotte Green countdown to retirement:-

I still remember the Feedback reaction to the splendid Neil Nunes' move to Radio 4

That was very nasty, wasn't it? Some very small-minded people complaining about his rich accent. I must admit that I was surprised to find out how young he was when he first started on Radio 4.
