If you check you will see that they were released in the 80's on video and she has just copied them onto DVD, so yes many have not been released on DVD but they have been on video.

But as you require proof, view this clip from zerodaydvd (with tv logo)

I should add that I've a fair idea who zerodaydvd.com is and they are extremely reliable. (and most helpful when you're in a fix)

You need to hone your research skills Carmel. Even on the website itself it informs you that the sources of these copies are sometimes TV broadcasts.

They are highly likely to all be DVD-rs. They do not make any claim otherwise.

Though many titles are not available elsewhere, many are. I see Girly (out on the Redemption label) listed on there, Seven Days To Noon (released by Optimum Releasing), Hannie Caulder (Anchor Bay aka Starz) and All Coppers Are... (Network DVD).

Nostalgia Home Video are guilty of the same, selling Green for Danger when it is available in the US (Criterion) and UK (Network DVD).

You might like to note that in not supplying any contact details (phone number / address), zeroday are contravening the Distance Selling Regulations (2000). Why would they be doing that?

I think this may be the one you are looking for.

It's a great site. Now if only we could get some of these series released on DVD.

Sorry to disappoint you Carmel, but you can't have researched particularly thoroughly. Just read the site's FAQ for starters... particularly the comment about the films being sold on DVD-Rs!!

If what you say is true, then all she's doing is buying a copy of a title abroad, and then banging them out on DVD burner! This, by the way, is also known as 'bootlegging', however one wishes to dress it up.

Oh, and should I even start down the road of mentioning the legalities of commercially selling material without a BBFC rating? Hmmm, another time maybe...

Human beings make mistakes in research and otherwise.

We're human.

Its easy for chiding somebody for research weaknesses oneself, when one's researching head is not on the block. I'm sure you have been guilty of not researching many things thoroughly enough in the past, Modular. I'm sure we all have.

Catching another out on the matter is dead easy. Making sure you don't fall into the same trap yourself is much more difficult.

I try not to support bootlegging... and so will probably steer clear of that interesting site because there is enough of a question hanging over it.

However, I say this without wishing to score points over anybody. Though I often fail... I try to bear in mind that whenever you point the finger at anybody, three fingers are always pointing back at yourself. There are lots of people on this site, myself included, who would do well to remember this.

The M J Bird Appreciation Society is very helpful, for fans of his TV series. (As you may have guessed from my alter-ego icon, I am something of a Bird-watcher.)

Eloquently put Aaryk.

However, as I've said before, I personally won't touch bootlegs. But if anyone else wishes to patronise bootleg sites for their products, that's entirely their own business.

Just be honest about the fact rather than dress it up as something legitimate, and try to understand the possible effects it might have upon future legitimate releases.

I have used ZeroDayDVD and its service is top-notch. I have never needed to have any DVD's replaced but delivery is usually within 2 days. I really hope they do not get busted, because I think it is good that they are showing there is commerical interest in these films.

it was very nice to be able to buy an official DVD of Who Pays The Ferryman even though I had to get it from Holland
