I have a blog which is all about monsters and horror in popular British culture and I have a number of posts about Horror Bags made by Smith's crisps during the 70's/early 80's and I was just wondering if any member has any old copies of 70's comics such as Buster, Whoopee, Jackpot, Whizzer and Chips etc or any other 70's magazines/comics that may have advertisements for Horror Bags [well any that are not already on my blog] or any other monster/horror themed ads that would fit in with the theme.please PM me If you have any scans that you could possible send to me to include on my blog would be apppriciated. Interesting! I remember the smiths horror bags! I also remember when I was a kid collecting the Tudor bags to get a silver horror pendent through the post. I was into hammer horror even then!

i remember tudor crisps little horror pendants ,around 74 i reckon ,were tudor crisps just a north east brand though ? ,they tasted nice ,now walkers have a stranglehold on the market and you dont have any choice

Yes Horror Bags were great and a lot of promotional items were produced. I don't actually remember seeing Tudor Crisps in the shops, but I did win a empty packet off ebay which had the promotion for the metal medals/medallions you could send for on the packet. These were called 'Wear-em Scare-ems' sometimes they do turn up on ebay.

If anyone has any Horror bags memorabilia they would be willing to sell, please do pm me.

There is choice, even in the main supermarkets. In fact more so in supermarkets than in corner shops although even they often have a range. All of our local supermarkets have aisles full of crisps and similar snacks. Many places do Kettle Chips & other brands. Supermarkets often do their own brands. Tesco's Steak and Theakston's Old Peculiar are very tasty

youd be surprised how many seemingly independent crisps are actually walkers owned ,a bit like the way beers are now under the umbrella of a company like interbrew or similar ,theres no regional variations anymore

I think they were from the North East .I seem to remember an advert with a young Geordie being met at the coach station by his dad.
The young lad looks down in the mouth and his dad says, 4-0 win away at arsenal what's up with you ?
The lad replies ,all i've had is a pie a dog would've curled his lip at.
Next stop corner shop, a bag of Tudor crisps and a beaming geordie lad

I think these days Keegan would rather have a 4-0 at Arsenal

Err....there are masses of breweries around that are not under Interbrew's control. Small ones, generally, but the beer usually tastes good
