There is a documentary on BBC Radio 4 on Thursday 17 April 2008 about the Australian born author,Paul Brickhill.
The Best Years Of His Life (presented by Patrick Humphries) tries to establish why Brickhill stopped writting after 1962. Humphries interviews his brother,Clive,ho believes that Paul's internment in Stalg Luft III,the prisoner of war camp in Poland which came the setting for his book,The Great Escape,gave him what we now call post-traumatic stress syndrome.
Apparently,Brickhill didn't like the film version of The Great Escape,as he didn't like the introduction of American characters into his text.
Of course,he also wrote The Dambusters and Reach For The Sky.

The programme is aired at 11.30am.
