David Renwick Comedy On Radio Four
Anyone out there remember the brilliant seventies radio show The Burkiss Way to Dynamic Living written by David Renwick and Andrew Marshall.
Brilliant lampoons of tv radio and films of the day, highlights for me include a send up of Tales Of the Unexpected where a man plays russian roulette with a never ending tape of radio four. A parody of Desert Island Discs entitled Desert Island Wobblies were guests are invited to say what wobbly things they would like on a desert island.
Chris Emmett playes a regular character called Eric Pode of Croydon very similar to J Peasmold Grunfuttock.
It was a a little derivative of Python, I'm Sorry I'll Read That Again, but Renwick and Marshall did develop a syle of their own. Even then they were both fantastic comedywriters and of course their best work was yet to come.
Repeats of the Burkis Way are often broadcast on BB7.
Renwick and Marshall also wrote,"End of Part One." on ITV inthe early eighties more or less a televisual version of Burkis.
