Default John Cooper-Clarke

I just listened to a documentary on R4 about him, and it occured to me that his 'sound' is very 'Mike Leigh' in film terms. I'm thinking particularly of David Thewlis' performance in 'Naked'.
Does anyone else share my enjoyment of the bleak, or shall I call Social Services?

I liked him as himself in Control - thirty years on!

Other stars who have similarly played themselves at a much (much) younger age were Louis Armstrong and Monty Woolley. I think Clarkey would like that company!

Default John Cooper Clarke P.I. ?

He'd make a great Private Detective wouldn't he ? A Post-modern Salford Frank Marker ! Poet and Private investigator, I can see it now on TV. each show could start and end with a poem. I'd watch it, that's for sure !

Often seen around Colchester, where he lives.

Still in his dark glasses, drain pipes , and thin as a rake - but an inspirational poet!

He evokes memories of Social Studies (aka nap-time) lessons at school when the assignment often featured clips of him doing stand up. I preferred Larkin.

I loved his early albums. The words to many of his works were brilliant - 'Readers Wives' was my favourite.

Has he released any new work lately?

Dave.
