Talking Radio Two Quiz Shows

Who remembers. "Three In A Row." and Beat The Record both progs introduced by Don Davies. on Radio Two,
He was a sort of poor mans Michael Miles and a poor. That's very poor indeed.

Didnt Radio Two have a quiz in more recent times where members of the Womens Institiute participated.

I remember Don Davies well and we used to laugh our heads off at BEAT THE RECORD because he was so abrupt with so many of the contestants. I also managed to attend a recording of THREE IN A ROW. (I think we were the youngest people there. The audience looked like they were there for a Wee Sanny McGregor concert.) It was actually quite interesting and Don Davies was very professional and nice to everyone.

A mighty battle of the giants between the WI and the Townswomen's Guild. Can't remember what it was called (Town and Country Quiz maybe?) but it was the sort of amiable, straightforward general knowledge quiz that is quite rare now and made a pleasant listen. I think some of them might have been repeated on BBC7 (or maybe it was more recent than I thought)

yoy are right there. Reminds of when Radio Two was cosy, Nothing wrong with it in its present incarnation but I do miss sitting in the garden of a summers evening and listening to John Dunn on Radio Two.

Thank goodness for BBC 7

Love Radio two past and present!

Town and Country; quiz wow! forgotten about that!

Who recalls The Monday Movie Quiz? Ray Moore used to present it. It ran through the early eighties.

Also John Dunn used to have the mystery voice comp didn't he? When some caller got it wrong he would intone wrrrrrrrrrronggg! Also he used to do answers please on tuesdays.

And of course there was the Monday Movie Quiz with Ray Moore where we were challenged to identify sound bites from film, theme tunes etc. I won it twice I think and got a £10 record token for identifying The Hollies with Peter Sellers singing "After The Fox".
Ray Moore was an excellent presenter. Such a shame he went too soon.
