Default Folk clubs

I have only been to one bona fide folk club, The Red Lion pub in Kings Heath in Birmigham where I saw Harvey Andrews. This was in 1998, I am a great fan of this singer-songwriter. We went to Birmigham especially to see him and stayed overnight.in Acocks Green. I remember there was a resident group who played either side of Harveys sets.

I have seen lots of folk and acousitc artists in small theares and art centres but the Red Lion in Kings Heath is my only real folk club experience.

Its a great shame I am too young to to have exprienced the halcyon days of the folk clubs in the sixties. I would have loved to have gone to the Jug Of Punch in Birmingham a club run by the excellent Ian Campbell.
