Whoo! Has anyone seen the remastered Rathbones? Do they look good and is it worth upgrading my ancient off-air recordings?

They do look very nice, though I think (and I could be shot down in flames here) that the project was to produce the best possible film prints for projection, rather than to produce a pristine DVD, so there are still odd speckles which you kight have thought would have been removed. Well worth getting, especially at these prices.

...and if you are in the US, Walmart (of all people) are peddling the Cushing-Holmes set for $19 to cash in on the Holmes craze.

I'm looking for somewhere to post a 1970 TVTimes listing for The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. This isn't the right place but I've noticed two missing posts ... Worth resurrecting, if only to see Captain Waggett's use of the word "Whoo!" (cue George Formby I think) ...

    Amazon update:

The Digitally Remastered Basil Rathbone collection is currently £16.39, while the Pete Cushing set is £7.93. I should point out that since the last post Douglas Wilmer's series has been released ($15.99 at Amazon US, Region 1 only) and the complete collection of Jeremy Brett episodes is now £26.97. All excellent value.

I think you'll enjoy them ..... they may not be 'canonical' (apart from HOTB), but there are loads of Holmesian touches to enjoy.

I think this list of the best Rathbones is pretty accurate, particularly the first five. The best Universals are the middle entries. The first two where Rathbone has weird hair and Nazis are the weakest.
