There is no word yet of Networks annual January sale - perhaps we are not getting one this year having had the somewhat pathetic Christmas sale?

I think Zavvi are doing it for them instead - The Complete Department S is £15:85:

zavvi.com - Department S - Complete Series Special Edition DVD

The Champions is the same price, as is the 11 disc Complete Armchair Thriller

zavvi.com - Armchair Thriller - The Complete Series [11 Disc Box] DVD

The Complete Van Der Valk is £17:85 as is Special Branch:

zavvi.com - Van Der Valk - Complete Series Box Set [11DVD] DVD

zavvi.com - Special Branch - Complete Series Boxset DVD

A few other Network bargains to be had on the rest of the site as well......

A lot of Zavvis stuff is however quite dear.

I see Network have already increased all their prices presumably because of VAT. This is NOT going to increase their sales - what with the recession they should be reducing their prices!

Another point which has to be watched is that whenever they make special offers they automatically add an exhobitant amount for postage so that there is not much saving if any. I was charged around £3.75 for one disc. and would probably have been cheaper going to Amazon and getting free postage.

Really? I've just looked at my Network account and I've never been charged any postage They're not usually the cheapest option though.

I agree that they normally do not charge postage but they usually do when purchasing a special offer.

I have looked up my account but it does notseem to indicate whether postage was added or not

I agree that they are usually dearer than other outlets however one item which whilst still expensive is cheaper at Network than anywhere else including Amazon - the complete series of Hadleigh at £49 plus.

A few other Network bargains there too, Public Eye 1972-3 is £6:87 (delivery 4-6 weeks though):

Armchair Thriller is £16:47 with delivery within 5 days:

Same prices for The Champions & Department S.

    Hell Drivers £4:47:

The complete Jason King is also £15:98 at Amazon:

I'm assuming that the Network sale will start the week after next, the same as last year, but I doubt they'll be cheaper than these prices.

Another "Thank You!" for the tip off re. Zavvi who I'd never even heard of before. When I looked at the site I expected they would not ship overseas but it seems they do and when I got to checkout the shipping costs were only £2.35 for each box set (I went for Armchair Thriller, Dept. S and Van Der Valk)...usually you pay significantly more for the first item. Two of the boxes gave one month shipping out estimates so unless they send out the AT box on its own it'll be a bit of a wait, and unlike amazon they didn't minus the VAT for non-UK customers, but all round it still seems a good deal.

A lot of prices on Zavvi for items I want to pick up (ZODIAC bluray, Doctor Who series 2...and then 3 and 4) were very similar to amazon, while others (Brian Clemens' Thriller were a bit higher). Not sure which would work out cheapest in the end.

If anyone spots any other goodies on the Zavvi site, do chime up.

The Network 'sale' has started - it's 40% off orders over £100 and 50% off orders over £200, so not that great considering most sets can be picked up cheaper elsewhere and postage isn't included:

Did anyone/everyone get their ARMCHAIR THRILLER from Zavvi? I've been informed that my DS and VDV sets have been shipped but regaring AT that "We're still following this up with our suppliers."

So "Usually dispatched within 3 days" doesn't necessarily mean they have an item in stock. I'm in no mad rush, but hopefully this won't end with them saying the set is no longer available.
