Default Just found these Hammer's

The Brides of Dracula starring Peter Cushing
The Curse of the Werewolf starring Oliver Reed
Phantom of the Opera starring Herbert Lom
Paranoiac starring Oliver Reed
The Kiss of the Vampire starring Clifford Evans
Nightmare starring Jennie Linden
Night creatures starring Peter Cushing
The evil of Frankenstein starring Peter Cushing

this is a collection of rather obscure hammer films that include both horror and thrillers.
"curse of the werewolf."
has been fully restored after spending years being broadcast minus about 5 minutes or more. now running at approximately 92 minutes, the film makes more sense.

These are on double sided disc's region 1 and wide screen and priced at £11.81, has anyone got this set, and is it good.

This set is very good value IMHO, esp. when you consider that (IIRC) PARANOIAC and NIGHTMARE were only ever released on Laserdisc.

It's an excellent set if you get discs that work!

The discs were notoriously flawed, and tons of people found their discs were not working, or were skipping or whatever. However, it is a great price, and if you get a set that works fine, it is excellent.

They are all very good-looking prints, all in anamorphic widescreen.

As for the films, my favourite of all of them is Captain Clegg/Night Creatures. Top performance from Cushing. It definitely deserved to be brought out of obscurity.

The Brides of Dracula, The Curse of the Werewolf and The Kiss of the Vampire are all classics. The Phantom of the Opera is flawed, but worth watching. Nightmare and Paranoiac are similar; both black-and-white psychological thrillers, well-filmed. The Evil of Frankenstein is kind of awful, but enjoyable for Hammer fans. For the first time in their history, Hammer were given permission to copy elements of the Universal Frankenstein series, and the film feels like a parody of those old movies, right down to the (atrocious) makeup.

I have bought a dew defect DVDs so far, it would be very frustrating to pay for a box set and get defect ones.

I ordered mine from amazon.com. Because of the distance, they told me not to bother sending it back when I discovered some of the discs were faulty. They just sent me a second set.

Amazon have been doing that for a while .... I received damaged copies of both Dead of Night and Sea Devils and they sent replacements without wanting the old ones back.

Bats.

I wish I had claws.

Has there been any word yet on the aborted Columbia Hammers? I was especially looking forward to them.

Had a look on SHE coming soon list and it's mostly pastime dvds and tv material, plus the odd film like Captive Heart and Light up the Sky.
