The 9 disc Granada set was released exclusively through HMV in August 2005, Network released Black Narcissus a month later. July 2006, the set became generally available, and November 2006, the 11-disc set from Granada/ITVDVD was released. It's pretty much the same as the 9 disc Lean set being released November 2006 and coming again August this year as a 10 disc set, except that Granada are boasting better transfer this time round to soften the blow.

I'm not privy to what an 'exclusive' deal would cost them, but I would imagine not much and that HMV were pretty happy to have a clear run at it for nearly a year.

Released exclusively through HMV in August 2005, costing £39.99.
By January 2006 it was already being offered by HMV for just £17.99

They should have listened to Steve

Hmv online - 9 Powell and Pressburger films - dvd boxed set - for £9.99!!!

Still £9.99? They've been that price since the beginning of April (see further back up this thread)

I thought they'd be paying people to take them off their hands by now
