I have this set .... it is excellent, but it's a real pain that Network brought out series 1 and 2 out together after this one. You can't get series 2 on it's own!

It's probably worth checking the price of any Network boxsets you're interest in on a comparison site. About a month ago there were massive savings on selected titles at one or two outlets... but only for about 24hrs.

Bats, I agree but I thought the 39 setter (which I have) is series 1&2, and it is series 3 which is B&W but is not available by itself??

Series 1 was 12 episodes and for that set was combined with series 2 which comprised of 27 episodes. Series 3, beginning with The Miracle Tea Party and ending with The Happy Suicide, was 23 episodes with a further 9 B&W episodes produced as series 4 before the switch to colour starting with The Queen's Ransom. There were then 47 colour stories across 2 series (26 & 21) totalling 118 in all.

I didn't know that, it just says Complete Series 1 on the box ..... it's still a pain in the arse if you want the rest of the B/W ones and don't want to buy ones you've already got!

I am in the same boat having purchased this first series, so it equates that we are now short of 32 b/w eps they may well be buyable at Devoted but at what cost

Cheers Marker

no it is confusing, so the logical thing would be for someone to do series 3/4 for people (like us) who have the first 2 series, this then leaves a logical leap to the the colour episodes as a seperate purchase.

Interesting to see what episodes were in each original series, but what I would really like to know -

Was the first series of programmes ever re-made, as I can remember seeing what appeared to be differences (compared with what is available today), in some of these episodes that were broadcast before 1977, when the Saint was still being shown on Thames Television during Weekday afternoons. For example the music was much slower over the Intro beginning credits for the early series, than what is available today and also some of the episode titles were different.

I think there was an old ATV copy of one of the B/W episodes shown on Bravo about 10 years ago, Also this may have had some differences than the version we now have on the DVD sets (cannot remember this episode name)

If there were any different versions made - Have any of these programmes survived ?

Mr Martin - Mrs Barrows we never open the windows !
