I watched the Carpathian Eagle last night, highly enjoyable. I have only got about 3 to go of this fabulous set.

Guardian of the Abyss was the latest treat to view. This has been my favourite so far, very very good. Ray Lonnen played a great part and Rosalyn Landor was/is very attractive.

Of course not ... it has to be a reference to the great Maxwell Reed!

Jingle bells Batman smells ... I heard that at school Daddy.

A 'hammer with hook' is a tool used in post-mortem operations. As the song is about a medical student committing a murder with a hammer, it is possible The Beatles were referrring to one of these.

Hammer with hook The hammer (perhaps the Beatles' inspiration for "Maxwell's Silver Hammer"?) is used with the chisel to separate the calvarium from the lower skull. The hook is handy to pull the calvarium away.
From Uthman's Autopsy Tools

IIRC it is also believed that Maxwell's Silver Hammer could be a euphemism for an injection of heroin.
