The Mail On Sunday newspaper are giving this film FREE on DVD in the London region, next Sunday 16th October 2005. I hope the offer applies to the whole of the UK

Latest news flash on Sunday 16th October 2005. "The Wild Geese" was not this weeks free DVD, the replacement was "On Golden Pond". "The Wild Geese" as promised will be coming soon

For the best service in DVD bargins, HMV and WHSmiths are the best. With free post and package and a speedy service you can't go wrong.

However, Razamataz often have low priced items, but charge post and package and you'd have to wait 2 weeks for anything to arrive. I did that and nothing came, a quick phonecall and another 3 week wait. 1 came, but another 2 week wait for the last one. When it came, it was broken! I would pay a little extra for peace of mind, because each time I shop with Razamataz, something always goes wrong.

Play.com are regularly cheaper than HMV and Smiths and also have free postage.

If You check on playtrade and Amazon marketplace you can find new DVDS at rockbottom prices ,that sometimes outweigh the free postage benefits, due to being so cheap.

Sorry, but WH Smiths do charge p&p.

And I would seriously advise steering clear of Razamataz full-stop. The company went belly-up not long ago, leaving many many people out of pocket with unfulfilled orders.

For the best bargains (domestically at least), one needs to spend a few minutes checking a wide selection of different on-line retailers (there are several sites that can do this for you).

Amazon marketplace is a great place for very cheap dvds, however you still have to be careful as some sellers treat their products with, shall we say, less than great care. I have received some dvds which look they've been run over by Red's truck in Hell Drivers!

    I agree with Batman above.

Remember that some marketplace traders on both Play and Amazon often offer second-hand products (which should by rights be declared), and those titles which are described as 'new' are often bulk purchased shop returns (which would explain some people's poor purchasing experience).

Beware... if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!

I have never had a problem with Amazon marketplace as I never deal with somebody who has bad feedback.

As with any trade on the internet ,whether It be with a Sole trader orA High street chain the greatest care should be taken .

I'm not saying there aren't unscrupulous traders ,because there are, don't buy from the cheapest buy from the one with the most reliability.

I don't care If I'm buying a bulk purchased shop return as long as It's a bargain

You most certainly will care at some point, as many of the shop returns are often poorly handled and/or 'scratched to buggery'.

This has definitely been an issue in the past with some of the (non-market place) bargains on Amazon...

I agree with a lot of what you say Modular , but make your mind up ,you're lumping poorly handled , into the second hand "scratched to buggery " bin

I don't mind paying a couple of quid for something that "MAY " have a worn corner on the sleeve and has been hanging about (It's never happened yet) as long as the dvd is new .And I'm not sure what you mean by "non-market place " ,Is there such a thing ? I haven't bought from it .

Anything not as described is returnable , thats where dealing with your reputable sellers comes In ,even in the marketplace

I got The Spiral Staircase for £5.99 online with free p and p.

Razamataz were brought by the Webb Ivory group. If they've gone belly up, why can I still purchase off them? I had an unfufilled order, but got it eventually.

Well bully for you, but on internet orders that aren't sent to a shop of your choice, they normally charge three quid p&p.

I said they went belly-up, not that they'd ceased trading altogether.

And I stand by my assertion that there are still many people out there today who's orders, before the company went 'bent', remain to be fulfilled. Personally, I wouldn't hold my breath on any of them being honoured after all this time.

Therefore I maintain my advice to steer clear of these jokers. If however you're still happy to use them, then that's great.

Just like the Farepak group! People would have lost their money when Razamataz shifted.

I don't like Razamataz, but have used them recently because of 4 discs that I'm getting are cheapest from them. They said 7 to 10 days. I regretted phoning them up, but we'll see what happens. Here Modular, lets drink to our agreement on disliking Razamataz.

Let me clarify that for you smiffy.

Many DVDs sold in supermarkets are held in temporary card slip cases which are then put into the proper keep cases by the 'spotty herberts' behind the counter when you purchase the title.

If a batch of titles are on sale or return, a sales assistant (the said spotty herbert) will be eventually asked to return the discs to their proper cases before being sent back to the distributors, who then pass them on to the internet retailers.

Unfortunately, I've seen the way supermarket sales assistants handle DVDs/CDs, and one should also be aware that the temporary card slip cases sometimes have a tendency to scratch and scuff the playing surface of a disc.

And this is the crappy condition some discs are returned to the distributer.

Sadly, the quality control of some internet retailers leaves a lot to be desired. Personally, I don't think there's any excuse to send out an unsealed DVD set without it being checked first. Especially when some customers receive scuffed-up discs with supermarket price tags still on them!!
