I haven't seen this one since the first time round in the mid 60's, i hope it's as good as i rememberd it to be. It's the haunting music that sticks in my mind.

That wasa great series. I'm always amazed people keep referring Beckinsale back to 'Porridge'. He was great in 'The Lovers'. Paula Wilcox has popped up recently on some shows - loverly as ever.

Re Adventure of Robinson Crusoe; I think people of a certain age group share a lot of affection for the sreries, and the music is wonderful. The soundtrack was released a few years back restored from the original sound tapes, its worth having and I picked one up from HMV, the guy who sevred me in the shop asked me what was so special about it because he was intrigued that the CD was selling "like hot cakes" to the 40+ age group!

Paula Wilcox was on tour with a one-woman show a couple of years ago. She appeared at a small theatre here and I had the pleasure of meeting her as I was doing some volunteer bar work for them. She is a lovely lady and still very, very cute.

Hope Robinson Crusoe lives up to your memories. I fear that possibly the music was the most memorable bit, that and the waves washing over the sand on the titles. It was a French production, wasn't it? I remember it seemed to be repeated every summer, along with the short cartoon versions of "Herge's Adventures of....Tintin!!" and the "Singing Ringing Tree". Now there was a children's serial to absolutely traumatise a whole generation.

I bought Singing Ringing Tree for Mrs Bat a while ago as she mentioned it favourably during a conversation. What she hadn't mentioned was that it had so scared her as a kid she wouldn't watch the DVD!

Yeah, know how the Bat Lady feels! I was watching 'Raintree County' with Liz Taylor and Montgomery Clift. The shot at the end with the tree? I was expecting the dwarfy bloke again!



They messed with our minds in the 60s. Let's sue..............

Bats - can't quite make out what it says at the bottom of the DVD cover for Singing Ringing Tree - the German classic that what a generation? Could make a few suggestions for the word I can't read! Also that fish - arrgh! Having a horrible flashback!

By the way, when I mentioned this thread to a friend at work, he said "what about White Horses?" which brought another theme tune zooming straight back into my consciousness. Also there was apparently another French drama oft repeated about their jet airforce aces - but I don't recall this myself.

It says 'The German classic that haunted a generation', too right it did! White Horses I remember fondly but not the airforce series.
