Peter is a bluff northerner and is fast becoming the most

    popular guy in the UK.

Eric Morecombe was also a bluff northerner and he had that

    title back in the 1960s.

Peter hosts the Royal Variety show in Blackpool in a few days

time..... the big occasion won t faze him, hes so relaxed

on stage and he knows the audience love him... he cant go wrong.

Bolton can be proud of this guy.... he s Numero Uno.

( wonder if hes any relation to that other Boltonian... Gordon Kay ? )

Phoenix Nights was tremendous and his stand-up isn't too shabby, but I do get the feeling he's living off former glories and it's time for something new.

He's also an encyclopaedia of retro culture.

So Max & Paddy weren't funny then? Chorley FM, coming in your ears.... that didn't make you laugh? Those John Smiths adverts, they didn't amuse in the slightest? And you've seen him live lately and wish you hadn't bothered?

Peter Kay is the funniest man currently working in entertainment.

And I was in Chorley today but didn't have the radio on.

No. And I have to say I don't think Eric Morecambe's comic genius depended on his being a "bluff northener"

i did nt say he did, but that was his persona

Peter is a force of nature, he comes on a TV programme and

takes over.... have a look at his guest spots on Parky

    and Jonny Woss.....

I just have a feeling that the general public love this guy

I bet hes selling out theatres and clubs.

It s great the way he combines music and singing with his act....

hes just hit on a great formula, he cant go wrong.

It wasn't meant to be, he just has this amazing recall of 70s childhood, tv, games etc.

Have you tried asking the general public? How much are you prepared to bet? Des O'Connor combined singing and music with his act - which brings us back to Eric Morcambe, who never struck me as a "bluff northerner" just extremely funny.

I find Peter Kay to be very likeable and funny, in much the same way that I don't with Ricky Gervais who greatly annoys me instead.

I agree and his 'Britain's Got The Pop Factor' comedy show last year was hilarious.

Peter Kay is very funny, and I agree that he is probably the funniest man in entertainment today. So what if he is retro? Retro is funny in the hands of Peter Kay. He also has also brought his humour up todate with `I`m a celebrity dancing on ice factor`, or whatever it was called. I hate reality shows so was pleased when someone took it upon themselves to ridicule it.

Peter is a modern day comedy legend, although the last few years have not been that kind to him in terms of comedy. To be honest, I never really liked his Geraldine act and ITVs constant ramming it down your throat. That charactor needs to be left in the cupboard now. His finest moments were Phoenix Nights and Max & Paddy. Here's hoping for something on those lines and sometime soon.

Got to admit, Peter's fondness for cross dressing is a bit worrying...

can't remember Eric ever reaching for the corsets....

but Dick Emery and Les Dawson were into it big time !
