    Penfold !!

Yes, there is a controverse about Depardieu playing the part, mostly because Dumas was a 'métis'/ halfcast (?) person. To me, I can't stand watching 'big Gérard' anymore, because he's too much everywhere...

Indeed, Dumas suffered a great deal over his mixed-race background; was that the reason he was not admitted into the Pantheon until very recently???

Compliments on your choice of Avatar, Moon, fantastic actor, Michel Simon, from the silents through to the sixties.

Before the "anti-Pc" police jump in the insensitivity of people is unbelievable. Dumas was insulted, lampooned and belittled in his lifetime over his heritage, honours were withheld that were awarded to more mundane talents.

Then to the cast a blonde blue eyed actor to play him in heavy make-up shows at best insensitivity and at worst an uncaring casual racism.

Is it Gerard Depardieu? Soon to be played by Ossie Davis?

I agree, if they wanted to, they could have found a more 'adequate' physical actor. And make a film about the amazing 'real life' of Alexandre Dumas instead of insisting about his 'ghost writer' (hello Roman !!).
