Hello, I'm new to the forum and was wondering what people thought about the graffiti artist Banksy having a go at film making? The trailer is up on youtube ([ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GTlm6dU2xHk"]YouTube- Trailer[/ame]) and it seems to have had rave reviews at Sundance! look forward to some responses. Just'

It looks very interesting, I'm a big fan of the graffiti art style although I'm not keen on the vandalism element that is often attched to it.

I like Banksy's style and if his foray into cinema is half as creative as some of his work then I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

What a terrible tagline though; "In a world with no rules one man broke them all"is hardly an advertisement for creative.

A friend of mine - who really knows his films, ancient and modern - saw this in Berlin....and he says it's one of the best directorial debuts he's seen; second only, possibly, to Citizen Kane. And said entirely without irony.

saw it last night and whatever your thoughts on graffitti or street art or Banksy himself, there's no doubt that he's produced a well made, entertaining and very funny film. It's also interesting to see artists at work late at night, how the large stencils are done and just how dangerous some of the situations are.

It is a complete pisstake though!

I must have been at the same screening !!! It's very good.....it's a good documentary on the Street Art phenomenon, which does question both modern art practice and the modern art industry. It's also in turns moving, and hilarious. And it's thought-provoking....
      Spoiler:
and you do wonder how much Thierry has been Banksy's puppet....

    Yes, recommended......

hey perhaps we were! co-incidence huh?

anyway yeah it wouldn't surprise me at all if
      Spoiler:
Guetta's whole exhibition was a huge Banksy spoof on the whole art world cottoning on to his stuff, hypeing it up and making money out of it. People forget that ok Banksy himself must've made money but the art dealers have been coining it in. I'm thinking he'd love to have them on!
