Happy Birthday, old friend, and many more!
Just met Patrick the once, but found him to be a true gent in every sense of the word and more than willing to talk about his time as John Steed.
Happy Birthday, old friend, and many more!
Happy Birthday Patrick
Love and best wishes,
Emma

On the occasion of his 90th birthday, Patrick would like to express his thanks for the very kind wishes he has received from around the world. He is spending the day with his grandson and the family in Rancho Mirage, California; there will be a cake!
Patrick Macnee's Late Breaking News
Sounds like more fun than Sheffield in February, in 1948......

Happy special birthday Patrick.

Actually, that was the only episode I directed. Maybe those in charge did not share your enthusiasm. On the plus side Patrick and I became good friends, for which I am very thankful.

And a great episode it was, John! Freddie and Patricia were fantastic and played off Patrick and Diana wonderfully. Must have been your masterly hand at work.
I dropped Patrick a line myself last week, hope it arrived in time. I haven't used the postal service in years...
I was quite surprised to learn recently that Patrick Macnee played Mr Rochester in a TV production of 'Jane Eyre', in 1957, with Joan Alam as his Jane. It was a one-hour production filmed for Matinee Theater in the USA (presumably), and here is an atmospheric shot from it (the picture is in colour - surely the broadcast was not?). Acknowledgments to The Enthusiast's Guide to Jane Eyre, where I found details of this production. Has anyone seen this?

I was amazed to see him (in a very small role) in an episode of Rawhide recently.
Patrick also popped up playing a Victorian policeman opposite Boris Karloff in an episode of an unbroadcast American television series called THE VEIL. Robert Hardy is also in the episode which is called "Vision of Crime", and although it was not broadcast, it's fairly readily available.
He was in a Canadian TV production of The Iron Harp, along with Patrick McGoohan, in 1959. I'm not expecting to be seeing it.......
But wouldn't it be nice.........![]()
