Two Turkish women in the first three in the 1500metres and a Bahraini made up the set.
All praise to Allah.
Maybe the suffragettes of the Middle East are beginning to get there.... finally....

I realise it’s common for the Olympics to bring people in one nation together, but for Afghans, that togetherness is something to savour, something to aspire to for peace. The psychologist Darman pleaded with his Afghan readers to take this one day and make it last. “We need to build on these emotions. We need to invest in this oneness. Oneness is not about being the same, but to work for the same goals in different ways. Nikpah proved this.”

Very good to get off to such a good start on the penultimate day of competition.
Mo Farah double Olympic champion, an incredible run to clinch the 10,000 and 5,000 double, it was thrilling beyond words and a marvellous occasion for the last night at the Olympic stadium.![]()

Gold medal number 27 for GB.
I was watching the Volleyball final on BBC3 and it was reaching an exciting stage of the match .... suddenly the picture changed to a presenter telling us that the match was continuing on i-player! BBC3 continued with Clare Balding droning on about the forthcoming diving competition while Ch302 (red button) was showing a repeat of the dismal Men's Football final. What not put the chat about diving on a red button channel/i-player so that the enjoyment of those watching the volleyball was not spoiled. By the time I had managed to persuade Mrs Bat to stop watching YouTube and found the match on i-player it was almost over. Whoever arranged that piece of idiotic scheduling is a complete knob jockey!

Congratulations to our American friends too - hitting 100 medals in total..... so far.... and most certainly regaining their number one position after China's spectacular home win last time around.

Well done Mo!
Tom Daley gets bronze.
I was glad Brazil lost because they were so poor ..... Mexico aren't that good so it was a very average side against one that didn't seem bothered and I found it to be a pretty dismal affair.
This was a far better exhibition of football than Mexico v Brazil ......

The stadium crowd probably thought this 100metre Hop by China's athlete was a heroic example of the Olympic Spirit, but apparently it was prompted because as Liu Xiang tried to hop back the way he had originally entered the running track, the young lady official you see in the video stopping him, was telling him, "Sorry, you can't go this way"......
And so he was left to hop back into the stadium and do the the 100 metres alone.
Of such mundane things are heroic legends born......
But to be fair, it looks like the officials were offering him the use of a wheelchair too.....![]()
OH well, it seems that you are determined to continue your crusade to praise women footballers and to criticise the men. Since you seem to find the men's game so poor by comparison I'm surprised that you have any interest in it at all. Just out of interest, how many times do you pay to watch women's football matches? From your obvious enthusiasm I'm guessing that it must be at least once a week.
