Didn't they duplicate an original Zappa cover ??
Jimi Hendrix is on the extreme right and Sigmund Freud wears sunglasses

Hi Jim
I know, that was a trap to test members knowledge about it !! (and the occasion to post a Zappa photo in a dedicated Beatles thread
)
But, all that things said, if I had to choose between the two for the desert island, I'd take Franckie, of course
I'm not convinced by the fact that Zappa understated to say that the Beatles "were only in it for the money", he just wanted to "tickle" or "provoke" the music system and the Beatles popularity, as he did in some songs, with Dylan for example ...

Not totally sure if this is the Dion Picture.

Just to the Left of Dion is Terry Southern..... an American author, essayist, screenwriter and university lecturer....This picture looks likely to be the Right one

Incredible stuff, golightly! Thank you again. Please tell us where you're finding these - as I should do. The URLs are shown in the image properties but it would save an awful lot of bother. I made a note of the websites for pictures I discovered in my original photo album. Dr. Macro (the Tony Curtis and Marlon Brando images) and particularly the NNDB were among the most helpful.
I've made these two look 'straighter', if you pardon the expression:
Max Miller and Terry Southern
That convinces me even more that you've found the right ones.
Jim, I'm going to stand by my theory that the Robert Peel picture is the original. There's always the possibility that one or the other is reversed!
Cornershop, I completed a short course with the OU some years ago that included searching on the Internet and without going into too much detail it's about the wording of your search. Try a variety of terms such as, Max Miller sgt Pepper. We had access to a number of 'hidden' academic websites but you need to be registered with a university. I don't think you can do better than Google image search though. Experience in searching helps a lot as there is no great skill. Keep a certain characteristic of the original firmly implanted in your mind while you are going through the images such as eye direction and profile.
Tyrone Power? It's a Karsh so would be a well circulated image of Power. Did Blake alter some of these images?

Hidden almost completely from view directly below Bob Dylan is James Joyce, who provides fairly conclusive proof that some of the pics were altered:
The figures on either side of Max Miller are both illustrations by artist George Petty who was known for his caricature=like drawings of pin up style girls. I've tried to find the actual artworks but not had any success in identifying them further as much of Petty's work was titled as just "The Petty Girl".
Vittorio De Sica's 1965 movie 'Marriage Italian-Style' has this still of Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni who were both used on the cover:
