Well, I thought this was great and looked terrific on the big screen. I still think Mr Taylor-Johnson is fairly bland though and I was somewhat suprised at how quickly Matthew Macfadyen has morphed from being Mr Darcy to the comic relief![]()

Just been to see this and surprised myself at how much I enjoyed it.
And leave Matthew alone he was quite pleasing on the eye
However, I did find myself strangely fixated with Keira's teeth which seemed to be in close up a lot of the time. Should I be worried ..........
Hmm yes, sorry, what a dreamboat....

You could see Keira's teeth? You mean she doesn't just pout her way through the movie as usual?

It was about 70% pouting and then this alternate view that I found more disturbing

Pouting is what Anna does thoigh. Imagine being married to Jude and still whinging #confused#
Oh yes, I've just remembered that awful smile in Love Actually. which was the first time I saw it. Very, very disturbing. She resembles Joyce Grenfell, which is probably why she doesn't do it very often. Not that I dislike Joyce's smile, I found it very endearing in all its toothiness.Doesn't work on Keira though. Also she's pear shaped. (Just thought I'd throw that in.)
I am still debating whether or not to go and see this film. I love the book and each time I read it I find something new and fresh, but I have not - so far - really enjoyed any of the screen adaptations. The trailer made it look as though it was a filmed stage production - which I find very odd. Has anyone seen it yet ? Is it really filmed that way or was that just a weird mish-mash for the trailer ?
Thanks - in which case I will give it a miss.
I'm always up for adaptations of classic novels. Even failed attempts are interesting to me, although I would prefer to see an adaptation of something less frequently filmed.
I've finally seen this and liked it, I thought it was spectacularly original and fresh. HOWEVER, I do find it so sad that with all that beauty and originality in the style and design and with great support, the two leads are Keira Knightley and Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Neither of them have the charm, depth or weight to move me, as I should have been moved. Keira's Anna started off looking bonkers and became saner, instead of the other way round and ATJ looked like Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein. Jude Law was a sympathetic Karenin and I did like Matthew Macfadyen - and the way he managed to keep his voice an octave higher throughout.![]()
The supporting cast were great! But the whole 'Glorified theatre play' kept taking me out of it. Suppose its one way of cutting down on a cast of thousands, a a production like this normally needs.
