Primarily for her film work....especially for the two 'Queen Victoria' films (the Palace liked them....good propaganda ! )
Ron was one of the greatest...but the 'powers' forgot him in his final years...I met up with him at Abbey Road Studios a few months before his death, recording 'incidental music'for television and film companies to use...his pension money, he said. He was upset that an organisation hadn't got back to him for a concert at the Albert Hall...something he would have loved to have done. He was also after cash from a phone company as he had heard a ring tone of '633 Squadron' on a phone whilst on the tube!Although many things hadn't turned out how he wanted, he was very content with life and loved a good laugh!

I never met Ron Goodwin, but from the various interviews he gave (including a hilarious radio one produced by Film Man, I believe), I get the impression he'd have found the business of a knighthood a load of missmarples . . .
Very well remembered 'Gerald Lovell'...Yes it was a very funny interview...Ron had some terrific anecdotes (many I couldn't possibly have broadcast), when we had a break and went to the canteen...many personalities rushed over to chat with Ron...including David Jacobs and Don black...greeting him as a great friend, in fact we spent longer over tea than in the studio. I'm with 'ShirlGirl' all the way.
