I've got Edgar Wallace Volume One and the picture quality is excellent. The booklet is a very nice extra and I like the fact that it contains original poster artwork of all the titles. It's funny how, when these used to crop up in local cinemas, I never had any great enthusiasm for them and would wonder if I could stay awake for the following 60 minutes, yet now they possess such nostalgia. I do think though, that several of these films goes a long way and I'll be surprised if many purchasers stay the course for every set up to volume Seven.

Glad to hear that the picture quality is excellent, is the sound quality good ?. Obviously it's all down to personal taste but I bought the ahem!, complete set on e-bay last year and found them so compulsive that I could easily watch more than one in an evening and found myself wanting more when I had finished watching the set. I am really looking forward to when the complete box set comes out in November.

Yes, sound quality is excellent as well. The discs can't be faulted on grounds of quality - Network has done the series proud.

The sets are grand but could someone check out Set 2 for me please? In my copy of ATTEMPT TO KILL the reels have been mastered the wrong way round. When Derek Farr goes to see Richard Pearson about the boathouse incident, just as Pearson is about to explain (10m 20s approx) we cut to the police car pulling up outside the village cop shop. Then we have other scenes, including one in which Freda Jackson appears as Pearson's wife. At 20m 07s approx we regain the explanation and get the Det Sgt delivering exposition which tells Farr that Pearson has a wife.

The curse of Studiocanal may have struck again (remember THE AVENGERS boxed sets?) I have already advised Network, but just wanted to see if anybody could confirm the problem...

The handful of others that I've watched have been perfect, however, and a wonderful change from the NNth gen VHS copies/downloads which have been struggling round the circuit for 25yrs+

Haven't got it personally Smudge (holding out for the complete boxed set) but others are reporting the same problem. A character who is killed later turns up alive and well before disappearing. A shame but hopefully Network will do the decent thing.

Is it likely that any problems will have been ironed out by the time that the complete box set is released in November, or would I be better cancelling my order now?. It took a lot of soul searching to shell out £94 odd to buy the box set, it needs to be nigh on perfect to justify the purchase price.

The quality of the new prints is amazing. I just hope that this is a 'teething trouble' and it won't turn out to be the saga that THE AVENGERS was from Studiocanal...

Good news - Network are aware of the issue and corrected discs will be forthcoming for those that have already purchased.

How about if you bought through Amazon?
Have Network made arrangements with them to sort out the problem and issue replacements?

Network have said that they hope to have corrected discs out in around a fortnight's time. They are moving as swiftly as they can on this. I suppose Amazon purchasers will have to contact Amazon in the first instance, but I doubt they will be far behind, if at all. Amazon must have a substantial deal with Network and they wouldn't jeopardise that, Im sure.

Good news. I hope that any issues will have been sorted out by the time the full box set comes out. I suppose that one of the problems with a large box set, is checking the discs out on receipt. How long a guarantee do you get with a box set?

I'm going to hold out for the complete box set release. After waiting so many years for an official DVD release a few months more wait isn't going to hurt. I shall curb my impatience.

I'm sorry to hear of the reported problems with the Edgar Wallace film Attempt to Kill. I am sure this will all be sorted out by the time the box set is released. I'm hoping that the booklet will also be included in the box set release?

Network have now taken down Volume 2 from their site. Good job I decided to watch Vol 1 before ordering Vol 2.

I purchased mine form Amazon and I e-mailed Network this morning and had an almost instant reply from them asking me for my postal address and saying they were expecting the corrected disc in anyday soon and as soon as they received them they would send me a replacement.

Yes, I did the same last evening and got a positive response back from Network confirming they will send me a replacement disc even though I have piuchased from Amazon so that was good news.

I suppose it depends on the supplier's goodwill. I once found a problem many moons after I had bought a set (from Play, I think!) and pointed them towards my not insignificant order history, to explain why I had taken so long to find it. They took that in the spirit in which it was meant and issued a replacement as soon as they could.

As to the booklet, it is information which builds with each volume, so I assume a consolidated effort will be supplied with any boxed set.

Good to see that Edgar Wallace Vol 2 is back on Network's website with this notice:
As you may be aware, it was brought to our attention that human error at BBC Resources had resulted in two of the five reels which make up the film ‘Attempt to Kill’ being transposed. This was a very unusual fault to occur and a first for one of our titles, however please be aware that this issue has now been resolved and all stock now being sold on our website includes the corrected disc. Should you have purchased a copy from any other retailer with a faulty disc, please email shop@networkdvd.net with your postal address and we will be happy to send you a replacement.
