'Please, what type of camera was in use when Alfred Hitchcock entered the film industry in the early '20s? In fact, any information about camera technology in the British film industry in the 1920s and '30s would be helpful.'

Camera technology in Britain in the 1920s was mainly the same as the rest of the world. Films were silent, cameras were hand cranked and were usually mounted on a tripod. Hence the short scenes and fixed point of view in most films of that period

But there would have been many more suppliers of equipment in those days, from many different countries, including Britain. These days it's dominated by just a few brands, such as Panavision, Red and Arri.
