What day of the week are you writing about. agutterfan?
Lord of the Flies UK 1963 dir: Peter Brook (BBC2 11pm - 12.30am), preceded by a documentary Arena: The Dreams of William Golding (BBC2 9.30pm). This first film version of the book is excellent, I'm also looking forward to the documentary.

That reminds me that I got to read the book ...BTW, is it considered as a classic to study for young british pupils in schools ??

Its a great book and makes some things clearer than in the film; that said the original film is very good.
Yes, I saw Peter Brook's film for the first time in 2008 when french editor Carlotta released it (new restaured master)
The bonus is a 32' interview of P.Brook
I knew the main storyline but I was amazed that the film was such powerful philosophicaly, dramaticly, and so dark it's between horror and fantastic too...and the little actors are both very goodThe b&w photography is just superb.

It's an incredible film, very powerful, and all the child actors are perfect. I haven't seen the remake but there was a stage version doing the rounds about ten years ago which was surprisingly effective.
In the original film the scene involving young Simon is absolutely chilling. It's a very scary and powerful piece of work as a whole but that's the bit that stuck with me.
