Time Bandits was on Film 4 this afternoon. Whatever its merits or otherwise, considering the world-wide events taking place marking the Titanic centenary should they have chosen another day to show as it deals with the sinking of the liner in a comical way. What are the opinions of forum members?

No, nothing to worry about it, a ship sank 100 years ago and a lot of people died and its very sad but it was a hundred years ago, time to move on and open up to closure on the matter cinemal.

In Spain they schedule films especially to 'mark' news stories. When the Russian crew of a submarine was trapped a few years back, they showed a film with a similar storyline. At least, I remember being shocked and outraged (in a very English way; I rolled my eyes and tutted) at the time, but I can0't remember what the film was; if it was Das Boot, then it's not really the same story, but it's still tactless.

You are obviously sensitive to the story of Titanic Cinemal. Nothing wrong with that. Just because it is history doesn`t mean we shouldn`t feel compassion for people. I feel the same about British soldiers who lost their lives in World War 1

The "joke" went down badly.
Sorry, perhaps I should re-phrase that... on second thoughts, bollocks, the whole topic is becoming too sensitive.
I do recall being mildly disgusted several years ago when "The Omen" was broadcast on Christmas Day, crass programming at best.
