I have both Melissa and Murder Most English on the pending pile so must have a look at one or the other. I'd forgotten about the Julie Walters version. It can't have been that interesting.
I'm currently watching Melissa, the 70's version and must be honest i'm massively enjoying it, I thought i'd give it a go having been so hugely disappointed with the 90's version with Julie Walters, but this one is pretty damm good. Peter Barkworth is such a good actor, even Ronal Fraser is enjoyable, and i'm not really his biggest fan. Anyone got any tips on other such suspense mysteries from the 70's or 80's, I have Murder most English next :-)

Melissa im giving 8/10, Murder most English 7/10, both very worthy of a lookm Julie Walters version 4/10 feels cheap and nasty.
I'm also a great fan of the late Peter Barkworth. I hired the DVD of Melissa a few months back and it was faulty - guess when it stopped playing? yes right before the end!
Anyway I've now got a replacement so please don't reveal the denouement!
PS I'd be interested if there are any other Francis Durbridge serials available?
I won't say a word :-) All i shall say is you will enjoy very much, Murder most English is one of F.D's too, very good also, I tried the Paul Temple serials but couldn't get on with them, i would also like to see more.
