I was reading in a book by Jools Holland that one of the things that helped that show be made the way it was, was that at the time a video company was preparing a release of The Prisoner and allowed them to use various outtakes. I daresay they would have made the show anyway, being as they were evidently fans of the original - and Portmeirion - but perhaps it would have taken a different form if they had not had the easy availability of cleared footage, at that particular moment in time. Terence Alexander gave it a certain touch of class at the time too.

Oh, Well. I have just deleted it off my Amazon wish list, don't think it will happen now, although it obviously had a cover designed. Like some others on here, I have a recording I made when it was first made but would have liked a good quality copy.

I imagine they can no longer afford Hugh Laurie......

I think I saw a repeat a while back... maybe part of some Channel 4 retrospective? Anyhow, I remember that Souxisie was singing like a banshee, without the help of studio production. It might be a merciful release.

Really? I thought they were miming, like all the musical acts on THE LAUGHING PRISONER.

Incidentally the repeat was a cut version of the original broadcast (i.e. they removed some PRISONER-related stuff as well, not just the rest of THE TUBE show).
