Cheers for the reminder Ian, so many interesting programmes being broadcast just lately about History it's hard to keep up!

I take a particular interest in the East-end of yesterday as one side of my ancestry in the eighteenth century were all born and raised in Shoreditch.

Very good. Although it seems to be a one off. They could do a massive series with each episode focusing on a different area of this fascinating metropolis

Recorded this earlier and just about to settle down and watch it. Although this programme is apparently a one-off I think it's part of a season of programmes looking at different facets and aspects of London.

Your idea for a massive series concentrating on different areas is a brilliant one which I'm sure would be hugely popular. London is a fantastic, spellbinding place - I love it. You could spend a lifetime there and still only scratch the surface.

In total agreement, I doubt there's many places in England where one can admire the adjacent artwork whilst having a wee-wee.

    Nice shots Mark.
    Love the red phone boxes.
Not sure about images of towers when you answer the call of nature, though.
Could make some of us feel inadequate (not me of course - I could happily gaze upon the eiffel tower without frustration!)

The red phone boxes were always a favourite place for having a pee late at night when the official conveniences had closed down. That's why the replacement phone boxes often had the lower panel missing

Cheers Edward, I didn't think of 'towers' in that way lol, the phone boxes are behind the Royal Courts of Justice, I guess the bigger ones at either end are older than the two in the middle.

hmmm, yes, that's something else I didn't think of, though in many places these days portable urinals are placed in the streets, thankfully, I'm unsure what ladies would do if caught short though (if they've been drinking pints that is.)

I saw documentary and I was surprised to learn that 40% of people who live in London were not even born in Britain. Although London is in England, it is not very English.

That's always been the case - and it could well be more than 40%. London is a world city, attracting people from all over the world and they generally live in harmony with each other, even if they're at each other's throats "back home". It's the mixture of people that makes it such a wonderful place
