    Hi All,
Does anybody know of a site where I can find newspaper press cuttings for film releases?
General adverts from the 70's back.

Most libraries subscribe to newspaper archives - check out which ones your local libraries have. Plenty of forum members read the Daily Mirror and Times from home.

Have you a particular title in mind Cinemagoer? I have thousands of press adverts in my own collection.mid-1960's to mid-1980's stored at a college regionally.(Birmingham) Very helpful when researching double-bill releases.Exclusively UK release locations but can advise if searching titles on their US showing.

Otherwise have each title indexed by London West-End and General Release during this period.Dates and theatre(s) listed

Need a few days notice/maybe a week even of going over to the store, especially if a particular scan is necessary.

(ps Work abroad on occasions for some weeks at a time so not a 52-week opportunity!)

You can visit the BL and see what newspaper archives they have there but, as far as I know, they don't have the rights to digitise any 20th century newspapers themselves so you'd be looking at microfilm. The Guardian, Observer, Times, Sunday Times, Mirror and Express have all been fully digitised - I don't know of any other English national newspapers that have done it.

I have taken a weekend (48hr)subscription here a couple of times:
    http://www.ukpressonline.co.uk/ukpre...n/services.jsp

Copies of "What's On in London" are often available very cheaply on ebay, so long as you are not after a prestigious cover. Any single copy carries more than enough cinema advertising to entertain you for hours, and will be a treasure to keep forever. A current search reveals copies from the 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's.

There are many American papers on googlenews to leaf through..... British films often look moor interesting in American adverts.......
