Very sorry to read today that Gerry Anderson has announced that he has Alzheimer's. I didnt realise that he had, until recently, still been working regularly at Pinewood.

It's horrible that this disease seems to claim more and more of our favourite artists and performers. They normally completely disappear from public view and the public only find out when the inevitable happens. I hope the memory walk that Gerry is doing in October will help towards finding a cure for this dreadful condition.

Very sad indeed. Gerry has given so many of us so much pleasure over the years and, as Mark says, in many cases, making our childhoods. I'm sure all our thoughts and best wishes are with Gerry - and his family - as they manage what is without doubt a very difficult time.

Alzheimer's doesn't just happen to the elderly. My Uncle's girlfriend as diagnosed with it at 48, and it took along time for him to convince the medicos that she had the signs.
