Me too, Jim. I really liked him in All Creatures and in Young Winston. I wish I'd had the chance to see him on stage.

    R.I.P. Mr. Ward.

Loved his Young Winston, last time I saw him on tv was in Judge John Deed as the wonderfully named Sir Monty Everard.

    RIP Simon

Also in JJD was Jenny Seagrove who always looked to me as though she could have been Simon Ward's younger sister, strong facial resemblance.

A great actor and a sad and sudden loss R.I.P.

    Very sad news -
I remember Simon's fine performance in one of Hammer's best films - Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed.
    RIP Simon

Thanks for your work Simon and for giving us the lovely Sophie, to carry on your family looks and talent. Also Kitty, who's married to Michael McIntyre and the provider of a lot of material for his stand up routine.

Terribly sorry to read this. I saw him on stage and over the years in various films, but he is permanently Young Winston, and it is odd to realize that he was 70. How powerful film is.

Oh dear, what a bad week, Angharad Rees and Mary Tamm and Simon Ward .... If he was permanently remebered as Young Winston it's not a bad film to be associated with, and if you see pictures of Winnie in the Boer War the resemblance is uncanny. Also enjoyed him in ... Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, The Three (and Four) Musketeers, the TV movies of Dracula and The Rear Column and All Creatures, Aces High, and many guest appearances (Lovejoy, The Tudors etc).

Fans of Jenny will also fondly remember him for I Start Counting and Dominique.

I always thought he was superb in the film Aces High, as Crawford.
