THAT SUMMER (1979, UK) dir. Harley Cokeliss

Two girls travel from the north of England to Torquay for summer jobs. They meet two boys, one of whom (Steve) enters the "round the bay" swimming race.

Some Scottish lads frame Steve for robbery at a chemist's shop. He is arrested shortly before the race begins...

Ray Winstone plays Steve. The film was made between his performances as Carlin in the TV version of SCUM (1977) and the cinema version (1979).

THAT SUMMER should be released on DVD. The evocative soundtrack of late Seventies pop is one memorable feature.
