Great photos of the Kes premiere, Stephen. I suppose the ABC Doncaster is now long gone, though.

Strangely enough no, DBF, judging by latest reports

It happens to be one of those buildings-regardless of it being a (disused) cinema-that has been caught up for years in property use/ownership wrangles.

Another stadium cinema in exactly the same indecision is the former Cinerama venue of the Odeon, Merrion Centre in Leeds. And yet another is the underground 70mm showcase cinema previously known as the Scala Superama then Odeon Ringway in Birmingham. Moth-eaten for around 20 years now.

Amazing it's still there, Rick, although not in its original stadium form. I suppose it must be in a sorry state now, though, with it being left to go to rack and ruin since 1992. The ABC Cine-Bowl, Hanley and the ABC Sheffield were of the same design and they're long gone now.

Taste the Blood of Dracula and Crescendo. I remember showing that programme as though it was yesterday and it's an incredible 46 years ago this year. Lots of the naked Jane Lapotaire on view in the latter and it's also 46 years ago this year since I ran Carry On Up The Jungle. No wonder I feel old.

Loved the Patton: Lust for Glory post (a film I really like) as it always gives me a smile because Monty Python were originally going to call The Life of Brian the parodic Jesus Christ: Lust for Glory

It seems amazing to see the cover of What's On with the advert for Ben-Hur which "cannot be seen elsewhere for many months". 56 years later it's being flogged to death on TCM. I note that Loge seats were priced at 20/-, were they for Freemasons only ?
