    Spanish Gardener, The (1956)

    Sensitive drama about a gardener who befriends the son of the household and in doing so falls foul of the father, a failed diplomat tortured by his own inadequacies. The boy feels smothered by his father's overbearing possessiveness, and forges a bond with the gardener. Feeling rejected, the father has the gardener framed for theft and sent to prison. But when he escapes, the boy follows him into the hills.

    Crooks Anonymous (1962)

    British comedy about a petty thief who is apparently cured by a rehabilitation group but faces temptation when he gets a job working as a department store Santa Claus. Accidentally locked in overnight, he calls on his fellow reformed crooks to help him break out. So the motley bunch find themselves alone with a storeful of goodies.

    McKenzie Break, The (1970)

    Action drama set during World War II about German POWs imprisoned in Camp McKenzie in the Scottish Highlands. Led by their fanatical Nazi captain, the interns are making life intolerable for the camp commander, who sends for an army intelligence officer to help control the situation. But the new military arrival soon discovers that the disruptions in the camp are merely a cover for an imminent breakout attempt.

    Velvet Goldmine (1998)

The story is told in a series of flashbacks, and the soundtrack features iconic artists from the period such as Bryan Ferry and Lou Reed.
