I have one -- originally recorded by Lindsay Anderson! You can see some screen-grabs here:

Send me a PM if this looks adequate.
name='DB7']An 80s Channel4 off-air copy is probably the best you'll find.
Thank you
Simon

Thats a fine Blog there. Very interesting!
name='Third Man']I am looking for a good clean print of this film on DVD, anyone have one. I know there's a print doing the rounds in the US but it's appalling quality.
Simon
Presumably you are referring to the British Title, and not the US film of the same name issued about the same time. I think the BFI/National Archives have restored a print of the British film - that was the version shown on Telly back in the 1980's - unfortunately I did not tape it. Very annoying as this is a film also on my wants list
Perhaps hopefully, it may be released in the shops on DVD, as it is an excellent film.![]()
Has anyone a copy of this 1938 film?
Thanks.
It was mentioned on the Film Programme 24/07/09, as Mark Gatiss promoted it as a hidden gem. Matthew Sweet and Mark were only able to watch a copy at the BFI library. No-one seems to know who has the rights.

The link gives some more details.
It was shown by Channel 4 back in the 1980s, but hasn't been seen since. The copies available from some sites in the States are abysmal copies of the C4 screening that have somehow managed to survive being translated from PAL to NTSC and then back again. Not really recommended.
Nick
I've got it if you really want it - as Nick says, there only seems to be a very jerky copy available (I can't remember if I even made it all the way through). The BFI do have a good copy of it - I saw it at the NFT c1995.
Incidentally, young Matthew Sweet (as usual....he needs a good research assistant to put him right ! ) had some errors in his chat with Sylvia Syms on the prog - he said that FLAME IN THE STREETS was a film of the 1950s (WRONG) and that you could only see it at the BFI (WRONG)...
You can rent this film on DVD or buy it on this set:

I have an excellent copy of They drive by night direct from its C4 screening in 1988, if anybody is still looking for a copy I'd be happy to oblige,
Best wishes
