    Hi there all,

New to these forums so, hello.

I have never seen this film but it is my Dad's absolute favorite - even thought he has only seen it the once when it first aired.

He told me he has searched everywhere to get a copy but you can't get them. I told him not to be daft and I would get him one no problem - just Google it I thought.

Blimey! - he was right. No-where can I get a copy for him. I downloaded the five part series on you tube which has satiated his appetite for now but I know it's not quite what he's after. The only thing I can find is an 'iOffer' in the States as mentioned above. I'm in the UK so it's not gonna be that convenient but I've got friends I could get to get it over there and then ship t here.

So the question is, is this iOffer thing worth going for? Or are there any other better sources for this film out there?

I have to admit, I'm rather looking forward to seeing it myself to hear him go on about it.

    Many thanks for any help.

    Mike.

    HI, Phil,

Your PM service is disabled. I just sent you a PM but it bounced.

    Thanks,

What Beta version? I sent you a copy 6 years ago and I recall someone on imdb saying that they hoped to get a better version but heard nothing further.

It's easy to tell if it might be complete - just let me know what the date on the calendar is in the post office when Rhayader visits it. If it is not shown, then it definitely isn't complete.

    If you say so.

Hello to all! I saw the movie and read the book of Paul Galliko. The soul became lighter from this story, but hurts the heart and want to cry.
Tandem Agatter - Harris - great!

Watched it yet again first thing this morning and still had me in tears at the end. Truly wonderful.

It's absolutely wonderful, agreed. It's so sad it has more or less been forgotten.

I've been haranguing Hallmark for ages about releasing a dvd of The Snow Goose - I never even get a reply. I will give any required body part (and cash!) for a copy. I now this forum started ages ago, but is there any chance.....?

The Snow Goose is on you tube in 5 parts, I downloaded them and stitched them together, the quality isn't too bad and doesn't detract from this wonderful film.

Popped in for something else and saw this.

Please bear in mind that this is taken from an old NTSC recording and there are three cuts in it. Originally, I thought they might be advert cuts for the US broadcast but they all are to be found in the second part on Youtube. Fortunately, the cuts are done so that only the first is likely to be spotted.

It also differs slightly from the BBC broadcast in that while Frith and Rhayader are building the pen, music plays in the background on the BBC broadcast but this recording has the voiceover of the narrator.

Although I have come across claims from various people that they have the "full" version, no-one has yet answered my simple question that would prove they might be right.

It is such a shame that the full version as shown on BBC can only be seen at the BFI - maybe it is time for another visit.

Hello to all the Snow Goose friends out there. This is my first post, so please bear with me. I am now 72, saw the film in 1971, heard the Spike Milligan cassette, and love everything about the story. My uncle Tommy died when his ship was sunk at Dunkirk, so it touches me greatly. I have read all of the posts on these blogs. Special thanks to Fellwanderer - am I right in thinking you are from Northern England? My peoples were from Northumberland. I would dearly like to get a copy of the film, have tried eBay, torrent, imdb, etc. Can someone please help in this? Best regards, Peter.

This film has the power to move those who see it at a very deep level. It is interesting to read comments by so many people who remember it and love it after forty years, even though it is not available on any professional DVD or even video release that I know of.

You're correct, Tim - it has never had a commercial release on video or dvd.

What I find rather confusing is that Paul Gallico refused to allow it to be shown again after its initial broadcast (although it was shown at least twice, possibly three times, in the UK during 1971-2) on the grounds that it added nothing new to what he'd written in his novella but there were plans for a remake (actually a sequel or prequel) round 2004-5 so someone must have given approval for that.
