After some research and some kind help from wadsy' here is a picture of the Location in which the Dance Hall scenes were Filmed in Billy Liar
The Building (Indicated in Red) is The Salvation Army Base in Ashton under Lyne Which is still standing Today.
I believe the Ashton Palais (Bottom Image) is the large building Behind' (Indicated in Green) which was demolished in 1985

Dave - Fantastic work. I've just started my own website on British 60s cinema, I'd love to do a page on Billy Liar and use your images, would you mind? You'd be fully credited of course. it's www.british60scinema.net, but still in very early stages.
Thanks in anticipation

Not to forget the use of Undercliffe Cemetery, Otley Road, Bradford. When I first went to Bradford (I live in Leeds) I went to see it, it's like a miniature village of the dead. See link for more locations: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056868/locations
Dave - This is really excellent stuff - I have my own website www.british60scinema.net, and I would really like to write a piece on Billy Liar and its locations, using some of these photos, you will be credited of course, but I'd like your permission first naturally. Hope this will be OK with you.
Anyone from West Yorks recognise this location?
Probably Bradford area - I don't recognise it as anywhere in Leeds.

Post No. 27. I'm an ex-bus and HGV man. Looking at the bus livery. Halifax and Huddersfield Corporation buses had the stripe directly under the windows in those days but I don't think Bradford or Leeds. Ashton-under-Lyne buses did too, and earlier posters on this thread have matched up locations in Billy Liar in that borough.

I just loved that film, and the sheer Englishness of those proud pre-war semis.
When they are canoodling after the dance hall scene (and being spied on), the road in the background is East Heath Road Hampstead NW3.
