    Hello everyone!
After a long research, I found this site and I can say I'm happy to join you. (=
I'm from Turkey and studying cinema. I mean, I hope 5 years from now, I will be in the cinema industry so, I need to improve my language skills and cinema culture.
My interest in British movies has just begun, I have to say. (=
I guess that's enough for the first post. Hello again (=

Hi all and Happy New Year

I joined up a few days ago and have already started posting but thought I'd best nip in here too...! I've been dipping into the forum for a couple of years on and off and am amazed at the amount of knowledge folk have on their favourite subjects. I love all things British from the 50s, 60s and 70s, particularly film and TV, cars, music, railway history etc... favourite films and TV include Get Carter, Robbery, Villain, Performance, Ipcress File, The Sweeney and what have you, in fact I'm a very active member over on The Sweeney Forum as well.

Just in the past few days I've been dipping into a few threads on the above titles.... all fascinating stuff.... looking forward to contributing and learning more

I was kindly directed to your very interesting website by a user on tcm.com named markfp2. It has become apparent to me that I am one of those sad Americans that prefer movies and tv from the uk. I wish I knew exactly what warped me and when, but I can't help it. The sad part is that I can't see the things I research and discover, because I don't have access, or they don't sell it here, or nobody knows what I'm talking about. Got on a serious kick to watch Marius Goring's stuff. People look at me like I've got 2 heads. Only some lovely fellow film lovers here know who I'm even talking about. I know he's been dead a long time, so what? Then there's the tv shows that I know I would probably enjoy, even if I don't get half the jokes, but I haven't heard of them yet, and you all know them well and take them for granted. I only know and love the famous UK stuff that makes a big splash here (in the US). SO..
Here I am, enjoying reading posts about things I've never heard of. I have recently been searching long and hard for an old British movie, and I've had a lot of fun emailing and posting and generally communicating with British, Australian, and German people about it, something I have never done before. No luck, so whenever the people who run this website will let me, I will start asking questions about the film and a bunch of other things I've heard of but never seen. So glad this exists.

I've seen Blade Runner years ago and never heard of Dark City though.

Welcome. I'm sort of the opposite slightly, recently bought US TV series October Road as US imports, not available on region 1 here. If you're an adult it is perfectly legal for you to create an account at Amazon UK or Ebay UK (I have one for Amazon US). You can buy British or European titles directly from Ebay US (check the international sellers section). Region free DVD players are easy to get (or CDs with region-coding instructions, I do not legally condone this), as is region free computer media players (e.g. VCL). Yes you'd have to pay shipping charges but unlike us Brits you don't have to pay an import duty! Read the forum rules about buying/requesting DVD-Rs from britmovie members (basically, if a title is commercially available, it's a no-no). Other sources are ioffer (at your own risk), but also check youtube, this often has clips (if not entire films) from a wide range of Britflicks and TV.
