For those willing in dig a little, charity shops are becoming a great source of rare movies. I wonder what gems people have found lately.

To start the ball rolling, last week I picked up A Hill in Korea for a quid. A great addition to my Stanley Baker collection with a top cast, including what I think was Michael Caine's first screen performance.

OK, I know I've misspelled the title of this thread, but I've no idea how to correct it!

    Job done !

I have (to support favourite charity shops) donated a few DVD titles to them. I've noticed that some of my stuff has disappeared same day - like the whole of the Carlton 'PERSUADERS' after I got the new set.

More power to them, if it helps you bargain hunters out there then it helps my chosen charities too. And far less hassle than EBay....

I scour the charity shops regularly. My "best" buy was a brand new, never opened copy of "Psycho" for 50p! The video was still in its original, inner wrapper.

It is a question of looking hard and going through a lot of videos/DVDs, but I think it's worthwhile.

I've always been a charity shop browser particularly for books and films. My best bargain was a still sealed box set (albeit video tape not DVD) of Brideshead Revisited! The shop was doing an offer on all videos that week at 25p a video. The assistant asked if I'd mind paying 25p for each of the 4 in the boxset!! I felt so guilty at paying only a pound for an unopened box set that I put another pound in the collecting tin on the counter!

I got the BBC Anna Karenina VHS set from Barnardo's.

I used to work in a charity shop, and (having been unemployed more often than not) dress pretty well entirely from them.

ha ha - NO!! Actually, I keep looking for Image's post saying, "You wouldn't BELIEVE the films I found! And they were only twice the price of the Crown Jewels, so of course I bought them all!"

Today's haul is The Hammer version of Hound of the Baskervilles, Where Eagles Dare and The Manchurian Candidate (original version), all on DVD, £5.99 the lot.

Not a charity chop, though, Cash Converters had a special offer. I can't normally reach the DVDs in there for niffy people.

Not so good for my Karma, then, but I can now watch Derren Nesbitt get shot in the head any time I want.
